With only a handful of games remaining, Barclays Premier League contenders Liverpool and Chelsea are preparing to meet Sunday in what could very well be the match that determines the outcome of the final English League standings. Through 35 matches, both the Reds and Blues remain in the hunt for a crown but heading into Sunday’s clash at Anfield, Liverpool holds a five-point advantage over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea for the top spot in the twenty-club table. Excited about the opportunity to take down the league’s No. 2 team and further distance themselves in the Premier League, Liverpool striker Luis Suárez says his team is capable of finishing the job just a season removed from a seventh place finish.

“It would be something that no one would believe,” Suárez said about winning the 2013-2014 Barclays Premier League title. “We have good players, but if you look at the complete squad, we don’t have the tools to be up there. The truth is that we have surprised ourselves at how well we’re playing. We have good players who are demonstrating why they are at Liverpool and it would be something amazing for the Premier League because of the investment made by Chelsea, City, and Arsenal. Even Tottenham have spent over £100 million and we, with so little investment, are in that position. It would be incredible.”

The leading candidate to claim the PFA Footballer of the Year award, Luis Suarez continues to perform at an unbelievable rate. In 30 league contests this season, the Uruguayan star has recorded 30 goals and 12 assists, further solidifying himself as one of the top scorers in professional football, but he may not be the main focus of the opposing coach come Sunday. Though slowing Suárez, upending Liverpool and creeping closer to the table-leading Reds is certainly a goal, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says his main focus is the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals and the upcoming meeting with Atletico Madrid. When asked how he’ll approach Sunday’s match with Liverpool from a tactical standpoint, Mourinho said that he will talk to his players before making a decision on who will rest.

“If we have to play the kids, we play the kids,” he said. “I can't decide by myself. That's a decision I have to listen to the club. I'm just the manager and I have to listen to the club. The fact that the match is on Sunday, I think puts the problem not in my hands but in the hands of those who decide the game should be on Sunday and not Saturday or Friday. We represent English football and are the only team in European competitions. Spain has four and gave them all the conditions to try to have success, so I know what I would do. But I'm not the club. I have to speak to them. I would play with the players who are not going to play Wednesday against Atletico.”
