Apple has confirmed that it will host a media event next week. The company is expected to unveil its iPad Mini and now according to reports, Apple will also reveal its new MacBook Pro.

According to 9TO5Mac, Apple will unveil its 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro and it is estimated to "cost roughly $1,699 at launch, based on wholesale prices we received, while the higher spec model will cost $200 to $300 more."

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display: 2.3GHz sells at a base price of $2,199 while the 2.6GHz costs $2,799.

The device will reportedly have a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel display.

According to Chris Burns from Slash Gear, the new MacBook Pro will be "significantly thinner than its predecessor."

"It'll have some downward and outward-facing head vents and will be working with a Thunderbolt port, of course," Burns wrote. "You'll be working with USB 3.0 (one or two ports, we shall see) and a full-sized HDMI port as well. This version of the MacBook Pro will be working with the newest version of the power cord that Apple presents as as the most advanced and physically sensible version yet."

Burns also said that the battery time will be the same as the previous model, the design will replicate the 15-inch model, and the unit will more than likely be up for sale well in advance of the holiday season.

In June, Apple unveiled an all new 15-inch MacBook Pro featuring a Retina display, all flash storage and quad-core processors in a thin and light design. Measuring 0.71 inches and weighing 4.46 pounds, Apple said "the completely redesigned MacBook Pro sets a new standard in performance and portability for pro users."
