Macron's Office Claims Video Showing His Wife Pushing Him In The Face Was Actually Playful: 'Having a Laugh'

The office of French President Emmanuel Macron sought to dismiss on Monday a video where his wife, Brigitte, appeared to shove him in the face before exiting a plane.

The images in question show Macron standing before the plane's open doorway at the start of his Southeast Asia tour, which began in Vietnam. Then, a hand appears to shove him in the face. Macron immediately turns to face outside and smiles before exiting.

The person who shoved Macron cannot be seen, but the sleeve matches the color of the suit Brigitte was wearing when exiting the plane. The president then appears to offer his arm to his wife, but she doesn't take it.

Macron's office seemed to confirm it was Brigitte who shoved Macron, saying she did so in a playful manner. "It was a moment when the president and his wife were relaxing one last time before the start of the trip by having a laugh," said an official for the Elysee Palace, Reuters reported.

The clip quickly went viral on social media. Macron also addressed the images, saying he was "bickering, or rather joking, with my wife." "It's nothing."
