The world's cheapest 5G phone, Realme X50. themodbileindian

Shenzhen-based Chinese phone manufacturer Realme surprised everyone by unveiling its new flagship now touted as the world’s cheapest 5G phone. But the real surprise is that aside from its price advantage, the Realme X50 5G is even better than high-end phones Samsung Galaxy S10 and iPhone 11 in a couple of areas.

A lot of brands such as Huawei, Oppo, and OnePlus have proven that high-quality smartphones can be reasonably priced. But the Realme is a cut above the rest as its recently unveiled 5G enabled flagship - the Realme X50 5G - is being offered only at 2,499 Chinese Yuan or around $360 based on current conversion rates, as reported by Express.

One might reasonably expect crappy specs and features from such a dirt-cheap 5G smartphone but that’s not the case at all with the Realme X50 5G. Since the flagship supports 5G coupled with its built-in Snapdragon 765G processor, it is capable of delivering faster internet speeds compared to high-end phones such as the iPhone 11 series and the Galaxy S10 lineup.

The Realme X50 5G will also come with a very smooth display thanks to its screen’s refresh rate of 120Hz. For comparison, the Galaxy S10 lineup and the iPhone 11 series only offer a 60Hz refresh rate of their displays.

However, the Realme X50 5G display’s colors might not be as vivid and rich compared to the higher-end phones. This is because it only sports an LCD screen unlike the OLED displays found in the Galaxy 10 and iPhone 11, a necessary move by the Chinese phone manufacturer to keep production costs at a minimum.

The phone boasts of a pill-shaped cutout on the upper left portion of its screen for its two front-facing camera assembly. It contains an ultra-wide-angle 8-megapixel lens as well as a 16-megapixel main camera for selfies.

The smartphone features a four-lens rear camera assembly. There’s one for ultra-wide-angle shots, a telephoto lens, a macro camera, and its main lens.

The base X50 5G model only sports 6GB of RAM. However, buyers can opt for a higher-end version which features 12GB of RAM. The phone has a battery capacity of 4,200mAh that can be charged to 70 percent in 30 minutes.

At the moment, the Realme X50 5G is only available in China. The entry-level version that features 8GM of RAM and 128 GB of storage sells for 2,499 Chinese Yuan or around $360. Another version has 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is being offered at 2,699 Yuan or around $380. The most expensive model has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and sells for 2,999 Yuan or around $430.
