A 21-year-old tourist was shot in Times Square in broad daylight while walking with his family on Sunday, police sources said.

Samuel Poulin was with his wife, sister and brother-in-law outside the Marriott hotel on West 45th Street and Broadway when he was struck in the back with a stray bullet, said NYPD sources. The incident took place amid an argument between two groups, potentially CD peddlers, with one man opening fire from a sidewalk, sources said.

“We were sitting at Juniors when a loud pop happened. And everybody ran for the hotel, they ran inside. It really is bad that (the shooting) happened in Times Square,” said witness Sydney Santana. She added that Poulin was speaking with emergency workers before he was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An unidentified relative of the victim told New York Post that he is doing “fine.” “I’m going to the hospital right now to see him,” the woman said on phone.

NYPD told Fox News that the incident took place at 1535 Broadway shortly before 5.20pm. That address is in the heart of Times Square.

Police asked people to avoid the area of West 45 Street and 7th Avenue and to expect delays in the surrounding area. "Due to police activity, please avoid the area of West 45 Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Expect delays in the surrounding area," read a tweet on behalf of NYPD.

Two suspects, who have been described as Hispanic men, are yet to be caught. Police are hunting for the two men.

This is the second shooting in Times Square in a little over a month. In May, three bystanders were hit by gunfire. A 4-year-old child was one of the victims, reported NBC New York. The young girl sustained leg injury after the incident while a 23-year-old woman was shot in her thigh and a 43-year-old woman was struck in the foot, police said at the time.

Shots were fired after an argument between a group of men. Witnesses told police the men were arguing when one took out a gun and started firing. That's when the innocent bystanders were shot. The accused responsible for the May shooting was apprehended days later in Florida.
