A man has been accused of brutally killing a tea seller in retaliation for the victim allegedly passing sexual remarks against his mother in Jafrabad, Gujarat, India on Saturday, June 4.

The suspect, identified as Asif Shahrukh, a resident of Maujpur, allegedly shot and killed a tea seller named Nazim with a country-made pistol, angered by the victim spewing sexual comments against Shahrukh's mother despite several warnings from the accused in Ashok Mohalla, Jafrabad, Gujarat, India on Saturday, June 4. After shooting Nazim dead, Shahrukh reportedly immediately fled the scene, India Today reported.

Following the murder, locals informed the police about the shooting incident. After law enforcement responded to the scene, they found the victim Nazim lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to GTB Hospital for immediate treatment. However, the victim was declared dead upon arrival at the facility.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Shahrukh was subsequently taken into custody after an extensive manhunt.

When the officers interrogated Shahrukh, he confessed to the crime and revealed that ever since his father died in 2010, his mother frequently patronized Nazim's shop. However, Nazim allegedly often passed sexual remarks against his mother. Even though Shahrukh sternly warned Nazim to stop this several times, the salesman did not pay any heed to his warnings.

Enraged, Shahrukh bought a country-made pistol and shot Nazim to death with it. Meanwhile, the police officers have recovered one live cartridge, one empty cartridge, and a mobile phone from Shahrukh's house.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a tea seller allegedly killed one of his customers for not paying enough money for tea in Arepo, Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria, Latin Times reported.

The victim, identified as Musa, reportedly bought a cup of tea from the accused, Hamidu, and paid only 40 Nigerian Naira (US$0.096) instead of the beverage's real price of 50 Nigerian Naira (US$0.12). Hamidu, who was left angered after being shortchanged, resorted to violence, and allegedly landed a fatal punch on Musa's chest. The victim immediately fell over and seized before subsequently being declared dead on the spot.

Olayiwola Ogunsolu, who serves as the leader of the Odua People’s Congress (New Era), related that, while he was in the area on Wednesday, March 2, he heard the commotion near the Hausa community and rushed to the spot.

When he reached the scene, he saw the victim on the ground and got wind that the tea seller had killed his customer over the man's refusal to pay in full for a cup of tea. Ogunsolu said that he immediately called the Warewa Police Station and alerted them about the incident.
