The most important thing to notice in the new series of images is the enormous adjustable rear spoiler elevating over the aero body. Like the McLaren MP4-12C, the retractable spoiler in the P1 will act not only to provide downforce but to activate as an air-brake during heavy deceleration as well.

Beyond the protruding wing, McLaren boasts industry leading aerodynamics form the foundation of the P1's radical shape. Virtually all panels will be made from carbon fiber. Completing the package, McLaren will combine world class aerodyamics and a projected curb weight falling below 3,000 lbs. with a truly epic Formula 1 inspired drivetrain. Using a tuned version of the MP4-12C's twin-turbocharged V8 with a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), McLaren claims the power output from the P1 will come very close to 900-hp.
