Meghan Markle will always be compared to Kate Middleton in terms of motherhood, and be considered failing, some critics say. This can potentially be damaging to the mom of one, especially since she is always compared to the Duchess of Cambridge on many other aspects as well.

According to many commentators, it is quite apparent that how the Duchess of Sussex takes care of her firstborn, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor is quite different to how the Duchess of Cambridge is taking of her three children. Like in all things, the two are being compared to each other with one being criticized as worse than the other. ideally, this should not be the case.

According to Carole Anne Rice, an expert on motherhood at Real Coaching Co., no two mothers can be expected to be similar in handling their duties as moms. “Every mother has their own way of doing things,” she told Express.co.uk.

She added that the different ways of doing things stem from mothers knowing their babies so well so they can only do what is right for them, and not what is right for others. She added that when it comes to Markle and Middleton, the former runs the risk of being viewed as inexperienced, just because Middleton has “a traditional way of rearing” her children.

In reality, Markle is just a modern mom whose methods might be controversial or contemporary that they are going to be misunderstood. The expert believes that she should be looked up to instead, for new methods of being a mother. “Meghan is a modern mum who might try a few alternative ways of being a mother and perhaps some of us can learn from these new methods,” she said.

Apart from being viewed as the lesser mom compared to Middleton, even though this is far from the truth, it has been reported that Markle, in general, is vulnerable to being attacked and scrutinized by mothers in social media, who are often on the lookout for flaws and imperfections of the former “Suits” star.

Just a few days after delivering her firstborn back on May 6, Markle was already continuously attacked on social media. First, for the weight, she gained during pregnancy and the on how she held her baby during a charity polo match that Prince Harry was involved in, as reported by Refinery 29.

Rice is worried that all these can just damage Markle’s morale. With moms all over the world nitpicking everything she is doing with Archie, waiting for a wrong move to criticize, Markle can certainly feel bad in the long run, especially since she is still very new to motherhood and yet always out and about already, conducting royal duties. All the stress and negative emotions resulting from unwarranted opinions can cause serious harm.

“Perfectionism in motherhood is a dangerous expectation,” she said. “Motherhood is hard, messy, tiring and none of us gets it right."
