El Tri's victory over Croatia in Brazil has been a really big deal in Mexico. Soccer fans celebrated the victory of the Mexican team winning 3-1 against Croatia in the heart of Acapulco with considerable exuberance. So much so that they toppled the monument of Diana the Huntress: the statuewas demolished by the jumping of excited fans. El Tri's victory granted them entry into the next round of the World Cup and kept alive the hopes of a nation.

Acapulco is a popular resort town on Mexico's Pacific coast and is a popular tourist destination. At about 6PM, not long after El Tri's victory, people marched on this central square with the traditional trumpets, noisemakers and shouts of happiness. People began congergating around the stuatue and young people in particular pounced on the monument, causing it to completely fold despite the fact that it is made of bronze. Despite the fact that it is a very busy area, no authority arrested those responsible.

The Fountain of Diana the Huntress, formerly known as the source of Minerva, is one of the most representative icons of Acapulco. It is right on the Costera Miguel Alemán that converge at the entrance to the Coast, the road to the Histoirc Area and the road to the 'Zona Dorada' and the border with the Federal Maritime Zone. It is surrounded by numerous shopping centers, hotels and close to the renowned Playa La Condesa. Diana the Huntress" was laid in 1942 when the then president of Mexico, Ignacio Manuel Altamirano, implemented a program to beautify the city.
