The time has come to crown a new beauty queen that will hold the title of Miss Universe 2017. Iris Mittenaere, from France, held the title for less than a year and now she will be handing over her duties to a new beauty that will continue the legacy. Las Vegas is the host city once again for the glamorous night that will see close to 100 contestants from around the world hoping to make their respective countries proud. Back as main presenter is Steve Harvey who will helm the competition from The Axis At Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Joining Harvey is Ashley Graham who will be backstage to catch all the action behind the scenes. Miss Universe 2017 will air live on FOX starting at 7pm ET/PT and you will be able to live stream the event through the FOX app.
Who is confirmed to perform? Fergie will be taking the stage and perform one of her latest musical hits. Rachel Platten is also confirmed to be one of the musical guests to take the stage in Sin City.
Who is judging the competition? Ross Mathews is set as one of the judges that will be grading the performance of each of the beauty queens. Lele Pons is also confirmed to be a judge, as well as Jay Manuel, Megan Olivi, Pia Wurtzbach and Wendy Fitzwilliam. Providing expert analysis throughout the telecast are Carson Kressley and Lu Sierra.
Jay Manuel is one of the official telecast judges that will determine the next Miss Universe. As you know, he has participated in shows like America's Next Top Model and knows what he's talking about. In an interview he explained what exactly he will be looking for in the next beauty queen. "Beyond the magazines, photographers and celebrities I’ve collaborated with over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with so many different women whose power and style truly inspired me," he said. "They helped me find ways to support and empower women, and that career behind the scenes only prepared me for the role I’m most known for-- the creative director and producer on America’s Next Top Model. I’m looking for a Miss Universe who can stand in her own truth, whose voice and presence resonates in this politically charged world we live in now. I want her to stand tall and be an example for a new generation of young men and women where there is gender equality and respect for all."
