A new beauty queen will be crowned Miss Universe 2017 on November 26. The pageant in its 66th edition will air live from The Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Sin City will be host to the sizzling women that will battle for the crown and be named winner of the competition. Steve Harvey is going to be returning as the host of the event and as you know, anything can happen. FOX will be airing the event starting at 8pm/7c. This year 93 contestants will be vying for that title. Cambodia, Laos and Nepal will be debuting in the pageant, while Iraq is returning after not having a representative since 1972. Other returnees include Zamdia who was last seen in 2010 while Egypt, Ethiopia, Saint Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago last competed in 2014. El Salvador, Ghana, Ireland and Lebanon are also returning to the pageant having last had representatives in 2015.

The previous ceremony took place less than a year ago, back in January of this year live from the Philippines. Judging the beauty pageant were three former Miss Universe winners: Dayanara Torres who won in 1993 for Puerto Rico, Sushmita Sen who won in 1994 for India and Leila Lopes who won in 2011 for Angola, will be on the panel. Joining the panel were Mickey Boardman, Francine LeFrak and Cynthia Bailey in the roles that ultimately scored and determined Pia Alonzo's successor.

Performing during the live show were Flo Rida and Boyz II Men. The winner of Miss Universe immediately moved to a luxury apartment in New York City, which was to be her home base while she spent her reign traveling the globe, developing and representing her platforms, and raising awareness and funds for charitable initiatives.

The Miss Universe title also included: a year-long salary; all paid living expenses; personal appearance wardrobe and styling by the official Miss Universe Organization fashion stylist; extensive international and domestic travel; and access to various New York City events including casting opportunities, movie premieres, fashion week, sporting events and career opportunities presented by one the world’s largest and most dynamic entertainment agencies, WME|IMG, parent company of The Miss Universe Organization.

It was in the 2015 edition that presenter Steve Harvey committed a blunder that went viral. The comedian named the wrong winner's name and he eventually had to fess up to his goof on camera as Miss Colombia was already celebrating her victory, when in reality it should've been the representative of Philippines getting crowned. The moment produced an awkward moment that will surely go down in history for ages to come, as Colombia had to give back the crown to the eventual winner Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. "What the card say was first runner-up, I announced the winner is... which was a huge mistake," Harvey said during a press conference. "I feel horrible for the two women."

Ariadna Gutierrez who was representing Colombia said it was her destiny. "I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this."
