Marc Gasol is raring to help the Los Angeles Lakers this coming NBA season, one of the key addition to the purple and gold’s back-to-back title retention plans. Though they have a full roster now, the potential addition of Pau Gasol remains up in the air.

As far as he is concerned, the younger of the two Gasol siblings reveals he has no credible update on Pau other than he is rehabbing. The pandemic is another reason why the brothers have not seen each other. Hence, any juicy update that Lakers fans want to hear is zilch.

“Hopefully I get to see my niece soon and get to meet her. The situation that we’re in now, everything is pretty limited,” Marc Gasol said in a report from the Los Angeles Times. “So, it is what it is. I haven’t seen Pau in a while, but it’s going to be OK. I haven’t seen him on the court. He’s been rehabbing the whole time. I know he’s very dedicated to it. It means a lot to him to get this right. But it’s not the end of the world if that’s not the case.”

When Marc Gasol joined the Lakers, there were suggestions that things could be sweetened if the two Spaniards teamed up for at least one season. Pau Gasol has nothing to prove and has already won two NBA rings with the Los Angeles Lakers. Also, his age is a deriving factor. The third pick of the 2001 NBA Draft is already 40-years-old.

In a previous report from ESPN, the elder Gasol admits that it would be historic and special if he were given one final chance to suit up with the Lakers this season. It could give him a chance to win another NBA ring and get the proper send-off.

Unfortunately, the 7-foot-1 player knows he is not in a position to demand anything. Also, he prefers to play for a team that would have a need for him. Though he has been riddled with injuries, Pau Gasol feels that he can still be of help.

“I want the opportunity to contribute — to feel needed,” Gasol said. “Not just to be there. That’s not who I am. I want to enjoy it, and players usually enjoy playing.”

But the big question there is his health. The past NBA seasons hardly saw the Spaniard on the court as he dealt with different injuries. Hence, he may want to take the advice of his brother Marc if he does want to continue playing ball.

“Pau has to be healthy and has to continue to stay healthy throughout the process of rehabbing. Building that endurance and building on that continuous impact on his foot, on his bone is going to be crucial. And the only way you know that is through playing,” Marc Gasol said.
