The Preakness Stakes at the famed Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland is one of the most anticipated sporting events each and every year.
Kentucky Derby champion Orb will come out of the gates as the clear favorite to win the race and while most eyes will be focused on the Derby champ, there are multiple horses capable of competing with Orb in the Second Leg of the Triple Crown.

The 2013 Preakness will begin its pre-race festivities on the NBC Sports Network from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., EDT. At 4:30, coverage shifts to the NBC television network with the racing post time set for 6:20 p.m., EDT.
In addition to watching the race live on NBC television, NBC Sports will be offering an on-line live stream.
This year's field will consist of nine horses, down from the total of 11 a year ago but that doesn't mean there won't be a high level of talent coming out of the starting gates at 6:20 p.m. Saturday evening.
I'll Have Another and jockey Mario Gutierrez ran a phenomenal Preakness last year on their way to victory and you be sure that every horse/jockey combination entering Saturday's race will certainly have their eyes on the prize as they look to duplicate the race of I'll Have Another from 2012.

Along with Orb, Goldencents and Mylute will be looked upon as serious contenders when it comes to knocking off the significantly favored Kentucky Derby winner.
Goldencents struggled on the muddy Kentucky Derby track on his way to a 17th-place finish and while the horse may have dropped a bit in favorability amongst racing enthusiasts, the fact that this weekend's weather at Pimlico is looking like it'll be pristine, Goldencents should in no way be considered a long-shot. With 8-1 odds, many people feel this horse is capable of winning the crown.
Mylute and jockey Rosie Napravnik hold 5-1 odds entering Saturday's starting gate and while Napravnik was upset she wasn't able to become the first female to win the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, the 25-year-old New Jersey native is completely confident in the abilities of herself and her horse.
Get your PREAK ON baby I'm coming home ;-) I promise you there is no other jockey who wants to win the #Preakness more than me! MYLUTE

While Mylute and Goldencents are more than capable contenders, Departing and jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. are definitely capable of running a strong race this weekend as well.
In five career races with Hernandez as jockey, Departing is 4-for-5. Extremely strong in stature and quick when he needs to be, the key to success for Departing this Saturday will be the start. Up against strong talent in Orb, Mylute and Goldencents, the horse will put itself in decent position with a strong start out of the gates.
Be sure to catch all the action from the famed Pimlico Race course on Saturday, May 17. Pre-race coverage will begin at 4:30 p.m., EDT on the NBC Sports Network while the Preakness Race is scheduled to start with a 6:20 p.m. post time.
Race coverage will be available on the NBC television network.
