Prince Andrew’s alleged involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s murky sex scandal is proving to be a real cause of worry to Royal insiders. The British Royal Family has time and again refuted the involvement of any of its members to instances of impropriety, but the FBI is still not very convinced.

While a further probe is underway, several insiders are of the opinion that a deeper investigation might be challenging given Prince Andrew’s high ranking in society. Prince Andrew has time and again, refused to have shared any real closeness with the deceased billionaire. Thus, in a way, a detailed investigation in the matter would only absolve the Duke of York from further controversies—if he’s really clean that is.

Speculations ran amok when news surfaced of Prince Andrew’s hand in Epstein’s sex racket involving underage girls. While there has been no incisive information about the Duke’s real connection with the wealthy businessman, Prince Andrew has time and again expressed his deep regrets in associating with Epstein in the past.

“At that time, I don’t think I…certainly, I wasn’t aware when the invitation was issued what was going on in the United States,” Andrew said. “I stayed with him, and that’s the bit that… as it were, I kick myself for on a daily basis because it was not something that was becoming of a member of a royal family, and we try and uphold the highest standards and practices, and I let the side down, as simple as that.”

Despite his constant and firm refusal, Prince Andrew does have a murky past—photographs of his wild partying ways with socialites and attending events of questionable nature surfaced on the internet.

The duke is also remorseful that he let Epstein hang around his teenage daughter. With Princess Beatrice all set to get married early next year, this may not be the best of times—for a detailed FBI investigation on her father’s involvement in one of the biggest sex scandals of the year. In all likelihood, Prince Andrew may not be attending Princess Beatrice’s wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The duke is, allegedly, “banned” from the royal affair owing to his tarnished image ever since the controversy broke.
