It may not be long before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will leave the United Kingdom for good. In a recent interview, a royal expert said that the huge wave of criticisms that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been receiving ever since they got married might prompt them to cease to be royals in the near future, although not in the way that most people might think.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan have a lot of supporters, the amount of criticisms they have been receiving since they tied the knot is no joke. Considering the pressure that rests on their shoulders, their royal resignation may not be far from happening.

According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, Prince Harry may subtly turn his back on royal life by following in the footsteps of her late mother, Princess Diana. “I think it is worth remembering that Diana’s ‘opt-out’ of public life was followed by her famous walk through a minefield in Angola and would undoubtedly have been followed by more amazing charitable activities,” he said.

During her time, the Princess of Wales resigned as patron of the majority of her charities so she could focus on just a few. Fitzwilliams noted that since Prince Harry is devoted to the memory of Princess Diana, he and Meghan may not consider the possibility of ceasing to be royals in the conventional sense. Instead, they may decide to reduce their royal duties.

Prince Harry and Meghan have started to hold back from engaging in royal life since they welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison. Since Archie’s birth, the royal couple has been trying their best to raise their child as a private citizen.

Fitzwilliams also noted that Prince Harry and Meghan are valuable assets to the royal family and have the potential to do good. He said that Meghan’s links to famous celebrities is something that the royal family can take advantage of if they want to expand their influence.

“Their fondness for celebrities has become famous, Meghan was one and loves this life, but it is important to remember the good these links can do, such as the Obamas and the Invcitus Games and Oprah Winfrey and mental illness,” he said.
