Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been under a lot of criticisms lately. They were questioned over wanting more privacy, the use of private jets and basically anything negative that people can think of that it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might wish of quitting as royals altogether.

Prince Harry Has Surprising Thoughts On Being A Royal

Actually, Harry admitted that the thought indeed crossed his mind. In an interview with biographer Angela Levine, the Duke of Sussex actually admitted that he and his brother, Prince William, have this feeling of not really wanting to become royals, although they were born as one.

“If you’re born into [the royal family], as we were [also speaking for William], I think it’s normal to feel as though you don’t really want it,” Harry told Levine. “They [those who have sought fame] have a natural talent. We don’t.”

Harry And Meghan Can’t Escape Scrutiny As Royalty

There are those who believe that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will never be able to escape their destiny as royalty and the spotlight associated with it. The reason is simple — they’ve already reached celebrity status, according to CheatSheet.

In fact, their new Instagram account shattered a record on the social platform site. SussexRoyal set a new record for attracting a million followers in just less than three hours.

While Harry, as a member of the British royal family, is one of the most popular royals, Meghan also brought her own fame into the mix. After all, she was already very popular internationally even long before she met Harry. She was already a popular Hollywood actress when she played Rachel in the legal drama “Suits.”

Being In The Spotlight Is Not Really A Bad Thing

True, Harry and Meghan have to face constant criticism back home, especially from the British press. However, not everyone following them on social media are critics as many of them are fans who genuinely admire the couple for the work they do.

This puts them in a unique position to influence things in the global scene. With their popularity, they can reach out to millions of people to highlight their cause and, perhaps, effect positive changes in the world.

Is Becoming Part-Time Royals The Solution?

Given the negative attention that Meghan and Harry are receiving at the moment, it’s understandable for them to long for more privacy, where their private affairs are not as scrutinized as they are now. One suggestion put forth is that they can opt for becoming some sort of part-time royals.

“It’s time for Harry and Meghan to embrace a radical idea and become part-time royals,” The Star wrote. “It’s time to split the calendar between London and anywhere else.”

This way, the Sussexes will still be able to enjoy a certain degree of privacy that they crave. At the same time, they can still put their influence and popularity to good use.
