Insiders from the publishing community claimed on Wednesday that Prince Harry’s memoir, which has been hotly anticipated to release this year, has been pushed back to next year out of respect for the Queen’s death.

Prince Harry’s memoir, which he reportedly wrote with ghostwriter JR Moehringer, was part of his US$20-million deal with Random House publishing in 2021 and was expected to be released in November of this year. However, due to the Queen’s death, many insiders claim that the book will now be pushed back to next year out of respect, according to Page Six.

The book, which many Royalists fear has sections that may be disparaging to his father the now-King Charles III and his wife Camilla, reportedly contributed to the negative feelings that Prince William had with Harry and Meghan that have been pervasive since they stopped being working royals in 2020, the Daily Beast reported.

“Is Harry taking out anything potentially bad he wrote about [William, Charles and Camilla] now? Who knows what will change,” the insider said, while claiming that “[he] would never write anything bad about the Queen. He always has had the utmost love and respect for her.”

The insiders familiar with the work also have claimed that Harry may be changing a few parts of the book to better frame his relationship with the Queen, including adding a section that speaks about how he felt about her death.

“Of course, the Queen’s passing was something that was always speculated on when we started working on the book … when it comes down to it, there is absolutely no way the book can come out this year,” the insider said. “You only have to look at the royal family to see how emotional they are. This is a matter of respect for Her Majesty — as Prince Harry’s grandmother and as his Queen.”

Prince Harry and Meghan were last seen with members of the royal family doing a somber walk behind the Queen’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey on Wednesday, with Harry and William attempting to show a “united front” in the face of the Queen’s death and their father’s ascension.
