Queen Elizabeth II recently made headlines while at the State Opening of Parliament and not because of her 10-minute speech. Rather, it was the expression on her face that triggered a discussion among royal fans and royal experts.

On Twitter, Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis said that Her Majesty looked furious while giving her speech. But the presenter said that she’s certain that the monarch wasn’t really upset at that time. However, she still looked furious.

Some of Maitlis’ followers responded to her post. One of them asked if the presenter is sure that the Queen wasn’t really furious when she gave her speech earlier this week.

“I agree. A very displeased look amidst the diamond glitter,” one royal fan said. “I’m pretty confident she’s bloody furious,” another person commented.

One royal fan also claimed that the Queen gave her “dead eyes” look to Speaker of the House John Bercow. Another person said that the 93-year-old royal was definitely raging.

Another royal fan speculated on the possibility of the Queen being furious at Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was also at the State Opening of Parliament. At present, there’s ongoing political chaos due to the government’s difficulty in finalizing a Brexit deal.

However, it’s also possible that the Queen’s facial expression just sends off the vibe that she’s furious whenever she’s not smiling. This isn’t the first time that she was accused of looking angry while out in public.

Two years ago, a photo of the Queen looking unimpressed circulated online. In the snap, Her Majesty has the same serious expression on her face while she was being photographed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In another photo, the Queen has the exact same expression while she’s riding her horse. Even though horse riding is one of her most favorite hobbies, the monarch still looked upset.

Now that the Queen is much older, it seems that the expression on her face has also changed. Whenever she’s not smiling, she looks a tad bit serious to the point that she looks angry. But this certainly doesn’t mean that she is.
