Queen Elizabeth is, reportedly, upset with the popular royal family Netflix drama “The Crown.” While the Queen enjoyed watching the first season of the show, certain scenes from the sophomore season reportedly touched a nerve, prompting Queen Elizabeth to stop watching.

According to reports, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex were the ones who initially urged the Queen to watch “The Crown.” Queen Elizabeth gave it a try and eventually became a fan of the show’s first season.

“The Crown” started with Queen Elizabeth’s wedding to Prince Philip. Based on real bits of royal history, the series is said to take artistic license in heavily dramatizing certain storylines.

With “The Crown” season 3 set to drop on Sunday, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth was upset with the show’s season 2. While the Queen enjoyed how the series chronicled her ascension to the throne and Prince Philip’s initial struggles fitting into his new royal role in season 1, she reportedly did not like how the series portrayed Prince Philip as a harsh father in season 2.

A royal source has revealed that the portrayal of Prince Philip in season 2 was unfair, especially in the part where Prince Charles was skating through his difficult years at Gordonstaun. Queen Elizabeth is, reportedly, concerned that viewers of “The Crown” might assume that everything about the series is real when in fact it is not.

“The Queen realizes that many who watch ‘The Crown’ take it as an accurate portrayal of the royal family and she cannot change that,” said the source. “But I can convey that she was upset by the way Prince Philip is depicted as being a father insensitive to his son’s wellbeing,” the source added.

The source cited the scene where Prince Charles was flying from Scotland. “She was particularly annoyed at a scene in which Philip has no sympathy for a plainly upset Charles while he is flying him home from Scotland,” said the source. “That simply did not happen.”

“The Crown” season 2 touched on key moments of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, including the Suez Crisis, the Profumo affair political scandal and the birth of Prince Edward in 1964. “The Crown” season 3 is set to arrive on Sunday on Netflix.
