Today is a day baseball fans around the world anxiously wait for. Some fans just want to forget about the dreadful season they had and hope this season will be better. Well today there are a series of games going on. But something exciting happened in the Royals vs Tigers game at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Alex Gonzalez, a 37 year old infielder, who played for the Brewers last season was booed by thousands of fans in attendance at the stadium because he made an error when he failed to get the runner out with a routine groundball.

He had to redeem himself if he wanted to start the season as a good guy and not the bad guy in the fans’ eyes. So with two outs in the seventh inning, Tigers down a run, González tripled into left center field to tie the game. Then in the bottom of the ninth, he won it with a walk-off single. Detroit beat Kansas City 4-3 on Opening Day.

Justin Verlander started the game for Detroit, making his seventh Opening Day start. He was a bit shaky, pitched six innings allowed three runs, two of them earned, he also allowed six hits. Joe Nathan recorded the win.
