Speaking to ABC News' Ben Brown, Gallego said the messages are a "reflection" of past claims about the party, and he's sadder that "someone that I've served with and have known for 20 years decided to leak some of these messages."

The messages in question were published on Tuesday by right-wing activist Jack Posobiec. In them, Gallego is told that "somebody with a cool head and solid plan could rise to the top" of the Democratic party.
"Oh man have you met my party? I have been yelling at them this whole time," Gallego replies. He is then told that "it's time for you to flex and battle your way to the top of that party."
"We look like the not fun party. Always telling and correcting people. Not allowing no men to men. Women to be hot. We used to be the party of sec drugs and rock and roll," Gallego adds in another part of the conversation. "Now Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women," he concludes.
