Salma Hayek is known for adopting dozens of rescue animals, which live in one of her homes or in her ranch, but this last one was one too many for husband Francois Pinault.

The Mexican actress paid a visit to the “Graham Norton Show” where she recalled how she tried to cover the fact that she had adopted one more dog while filming in Bulgaria. Hayek took the puppy in and named him Ochoa (like the Mexican soccer goalie) and nervously planned to give Pinault a good scare by pretending she had been unfaithful, so that when she actually reveals the innocent news, he would feel relieved.

“I had promised my husband I was going to stop… we were up to 30 animals and I swore no more,” she said. “He came to me and I picked him up, his name is Ochoa, and I was terrified. ‘How am I going to tell my husband? I promised, I promised.’ So I came up with this brilliant idea to pretend I was having an affair,” the actress continued while the crowd laughed and cheered.

When the moment to execute her brilliant plan, Hayek sent her husband a message saying, “You need to call me at this time; it’s very important; we need to talk.”

After expressing her deep regrets and explaining how lonely she was feeling the “Everly” star only heard her husband say, “Oh, please don’t tell me you picked up another dog.”

Of course, the fact that the plan failed somehow shows how good their marriage is and how well they know each other. In a recent interview with Red Magazine, the Mexican beauty talked about her blissful marriage. “A good marriage, full of love, is my biggest accomplishment. Home is where my husband is,” she explained. “He is home. Everything outside of the family nucleus is an adventure that you're living together.”
