There has finally been some confirmed news about the upcoming Samsung flagship Galaxy S5. It has been revealed that the new device will be equipped with a fingerprint sensor. It has also been revealed how Samsung will use this new fingerprint scanner. Recently all the rumors surrounding the fingerprint sensor pointed towards the feature being built into the display but it has been revealed that is not the case. The fingerprint scanner will actually be built into the devices home button.
According to Sam Mobile Samsung also confirmed that they have not opted for on-screen buttons and will still use physical buttons. The website also reports the sensor itself will work in a swiping manner, meaning you would need to swipe the entire pad of your finger from the base to the tip, across the home key to register your fingerprint. Also users will need to keep their finger flap against the home key and swipe at a moderate speed otherwise the sensor won’t recognize your fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor is sensitive to moisture and will give you an error if you try with wet fingers.
Other features for the Samsung Galaxy S5 fingerprint sensor includes the ability to register eight fingerprints. Users will also be able to assign each fingerprint a different task or use it as an app shortcut, but one fingerprint must only be used to unlock the smartphone. Sam Mobile also mentions that Samsung has developed both a Private Folder and Personal Folder to hide personal apps, widgets and content you want to remain private. These folders will be accessible through the users fingerprint. Other features with the fingerprint sensor include varying your Samsung account and the ability to sign into different websites.
