Selena Gomez Moves On From Justin Bieber, Ready To Give Romance A Shot

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s on-again-off-again relationship dragged on for too long that it’s hard to keep track of how many times they broke up then kissed and made up. But, judging by Gomez’s latest statement, it appears that she’s finally moved on from their “toxic” relationship and might even be ready to find a new love once more.

One telltale sign that Gomez finally got over Bieber is that she is now calling their past romance as toxic. In an interview on the “Zach Sang Show,” she spoke of how her first serious romance might have negatively affected her.

“You're in a phase of life where you experience love for the first time and I think that can just be just a little toxic,” Gomez said, according to Seventeen. She was referring to her relationship with Bieber which lasted for almost a decade.

Gomez, now, thinks that what they felt for each other wasn’t love at all. Rather, it was some form of addiction and codependency that she mistook as love for a long time.

“You have this codependency that you think is love and then you have this addiction to the passion and the frustration with each other that you think, 'Oh, that's love,' or fighting or doing all this stuff, 'Oh that's love,' and I believed that for a long time,” Gomez explained.

Bieber was quite open to the fact that he hooked up with other girls. “You're on the road. And there are beautiful women on the road. And you're just getting yourself into trouble,” he admitted in a 2015 interview.

Despite her “toxic” experience with Bieber, Gomez is not totally giving up on love. In fact, she hinted that she is now ready to give romance a shot after being single for two long years since she broke up with Bieber.

“I’ve been super, super single for 2 years and I want to know what love will look like next for me,” Gomez said, according to Celebrity Insider. “But I never really want to lose the sense of love I imagine it to be. I do not want to get jaded or bitter from anything," the Disney alum went on.
