Fans have been comparing Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber for a couple of years now. It just can’t be helped as the two artists have a lot in common. Both are Canadians, good-looking dudes and very popular singers.

For fans who are dying to find out who between the two is the better man, the time may have finally arrived to settle the question once and for all — Mendes finally responded to a challenge posed by Bieber.

However, the face-off between the two heartthrobs won’t be happening on stage. In fact, it won’t be involving singing, the trade that both artists have been known for. Rather, it will happen on a hockey field.

Mendes might have just assented to Bieber’s challenge in a game of hockey even though he knows his chances of winning might be slim. “Just so we’re clear, I want this to be known just in case this ever happens, he’s a better hockey player than me. And I know this,” Mendes spoke “Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp.”

But that does not mean Mendes is already admitting defeat. In fact, he already has a plan that might even the odds. “If we’re going to do this, I’m going to take it seriously,” he added. “I’m going to start practicing three times a week now. If this is going to be a thing we’ve got to figure it out.”

Of course, Kemp was not sure if Mendes was really serious in having a hockey face-off against Bieber, so he had to confirm. “Yeah, 100 per cent,” Mendes replied.

In case some fans have been out of the loop lately and are wondering how this talk of a hockey game came to be, it actually all started with a simple post. Mendes shared on Instagram the cover of the Observer Magazine, which shows his picture along with the caption “Prince of Pop.”

And then Bieber commented on the post, which started the ball rolling. “Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there bud (Canadian voice) ... but if you want we can play hockey for it but I heard you’re a real bender on the ice we could just drop the buckets and tilt for it,” Bieber joked.

So will fans ever see a hockey match between the two Canadian crooners? Be sure to stay tuned for the latest update on Mendes, Bieber and other famous celebrities.
