Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez are both currently single, and they have fans hoping for an indication of a relationship between the two. After Gomez’s ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber got together with Mendes’ ex-girlfriend Hailey Baldwin, a fantasy of the two Latino singers getting together erupted. Thankfully, Mendes has given fans something to gush about after asking an audience to keep this one secret from Gomez.

One of the reasons why fans hold the “If I Can’t Have You” singer in high regard is his penchant for backstage talks with fans. Fans get to ask the hit singer a variety of questions — from odd tidbits of his life to his music and new singles and even details about his love life. A recent query in Portland had caused a bit of a thrill for fans after Gomez was brought up in one of Mendes’ answers.

During a Fans Question and Answer portion before Mendes’ “In My Blood” world tour, the singer was asked what his favorite television show was when he was growing up. Fans were expecting the Canadian singer to answer with the 2006 Disney show “Hannah Montanah” — after all he and the lead actress Miley Cyrus are close friends. Surprisingly, he sheepishly admitted that his childhood favorite was Disney’s “Wizards Of Waverly Place.”

The American teen fantasy sitcom — which aired in the Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012 — was about three wizard siblings competing for family power. The lead actress was none other than Gomez, who was 15 at the time of the show’s premiere.

After admitting his love for the teen show, Mendes quickly added, “don’t tell Selena though!” Fans went wild at the prospect of having to keep a secret from Gomez. After all, why would Mendes be ashamed of his favorite childhood show? Does this mean he secretly has a crush on the “I Can’t Get Enough” singer?

Unfortunately, no news of the two hit singers dating has been made public. Recently, Mendes released a statement that he is very much single and is not in a hurry to find a relationship.

“I’m not currently dating anyone, but it’s not because I don’t have time,” he said in an interview. “It hasn’t stumbled across me, and I’m not chasing it,” the pop star added.
