If there’s a show that fans are waiting to premiere with bated breath, it has got to be “Sherlock" Season 5. From the riveting storyline to the deadly cast, there’s nothing that failed to impress. Needless to say, viewers can’t wait to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman swing back in action for Season 5.

Throwing in a bit of context, Sherlock essays the story of a quick-witted detective armed with a wicked streak that wins people over. The character, which is portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch dives deep into mysterious crime scenarios in an attempt to find closure when there’s barely any. Sherlock teams with Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman) while taking upon life-altering endeavors. Packed with action, and peppered with just the right amount of suspense, the “Sherlock” series doesn’t fail to hit the spot—and viewers have set the bar high for the forthcoming season.

While there’s a lot of ambiguity surrounding “Sherlock" Season 5, it is safe to say that the fifth run of “Sherlock” is certainly on the cards. “You don’t look that gift horse in the mouth cause that sort of stuff doesn’t happen very often, in someone’s life,” Martin Freeman said while speaking about what could one expect from the fifth season. “...a huge, huge, worldwide hit, and way beyond anything we could’ve imagined,” Freeman added.

Not too long ago, speculations ran amok after it was reported that Sherlock may not see another season just as yet. But, Benedict Cumberbatch, the protagonist, was quick to refute the rumor. “Nobody has ever closed the door on Sherlock,” Cumberbatch said when asked about “Sherlock" Season 5.

There’s a delay in things panning out the way the crew wishes. This is because it’s not just Cumberbatch but even Steven Moffat and Mark Gattis who’re swamped with work projects. Considering how big a hit the show was, it is obvious that the team wouldn’t want to dole out a season in haste and garner lukewarm responses.

For those expecting “Sherlock" Season 5 to unfold in all its glory, watch out for the series to focus on Sherlock and his estranged sister Eurus Holmes (Sian Brooke). The season will show Holmes in a dark, mysterious light.

But, there’s going to be a long wait for things to materialize as Cumberbatch is currently busy filming “Doctor Strange” and “Sherlock" Season 5 is, clearly, not what’s on his mind at the moment.
