Adidas has reportedly launched an investigation into allegations that rapper Kanye West showed pornographic materials of his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, to employees who were part of his Yeezy apparel line.
There reportedly about two dozen former Adidas and Yeezy employees who alleged that the 45-year-old rapper showed them smutty photos and videos of Kardashian during work meetings, Rolling Stone reported.
Tied to that, Ye allegedly showed an explicit image to a potential employee at one point and during a job interview. Yeezy staffers were already warned that West had the knack of bringing up pornography during meetings.
“Hey, just so you know, there’s gonna be this whole porn-reference thing,” an unnamed vice president of Adidas allegedly told employees.
Also, there was one unnamed employee who claims personally see West play pornographic videos during meetings on at least five different occasions. Employees admitted that they were uneasy with the rapper’s references to sex.
“We create products of passion,” Ye alleged said to a high-ranking employee. “I literally want to f–k my shoes. That’s how good they are.”
The outlet recounted a time in 2018 when West was interviewing a female candidate for a job. The 45-year-old allegedly told her: “If you ever get stuck creatively, just watch porn for 10 minutes.”
While these cases have been around, Adidas did not take immediate action. It was not until former employees sent an open letter, accusing Adidas management of being aware of Ye’s “problematic behavior” but instead choosing to have “turned their moral compass off.”
Adidas released a statement on Thursday, Nov. 24, on the matter and added that they would be investigating the allegations.
“It is currently not clear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true,” the company said. “However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations,” the statement read via CNBC.
