Joe Jonas, of the world acclaimed Jonas brothers, met Sophie Turner because of common friends and HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” — the series that he is reportedly a huge fan of. After following each other on Instagram, the DNCE lead singer messaged the Sansa Stark actress, prompting them to meet up in 2016.
Sweet Beginnings
Jonas and Turner became an item in November 2016, after reports of the two getting comfortably close with each other at the pre-MTV Europe Music Awards’ Kings of Leon concert. The two were reported to have been very sweet and happy, sharing kisses on the side.
The couple then became very visible on social media, posting their time together over Halloween and Thanksgiving of 2016. The 23-year-old actress spent a lot of time with Jonas’ family. After a wedding they had attended, Nick Jonas even took to Instagram to show Turner as Joe’s date.
A source told PEOPLE that the two were already exclusively dating in December 2016. This was confirmed in January 2017 — when the lovers became “Instagram Official” — with Turner posting Jonas on her feed.
Lovers’ Engagement
In an interview with InStyle in May 2017, the “Game Of Thrones” actress shared that dating Jonas was “easy.” She shared that their time in the celebrity limelight had given them an understanding of each other’s limitations.
In June 2017, a source told PEOPLE that Jonas was very serious with Turner. It was even reported that the family loved her and that the two were very happy with their relationship. The couple even pushed their commitment further by getting a Siberian Husky puppy together, whom they had named Pokry Basquiat.
The stars sealed their relationship in October 2017, when Jonas proposed to Turner. They published matching Instagram posts, with each sharing how the actress had said yes, as well as showing the engagement ring that Jonas offered to her.
The “Worst Day”
In an interview with U.K.’s The Times, as reported by CheatSheet, Turner shared that they had actually broken up before their Vegas wedding. She explained that she was “mentally unwell” at the time and that they both immediately regretted the decision. The two got back together after 24 hours.
“It was the worst day of our lives,” said Turner. “For a second we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both, like, ‘Never mind’ ” she continued.
The Surprise Vegas Wedding
The two stars made news early May when they got married ahead of the teased 2019 summer wedding originally shared by Jonas. The two shocked their fans all over the world when American artist Diplo livestreamed the Las Vegas wedding, with Elvis officiating the ceremony.
The two exchanged candy rings to finalize the ceremony, with Jonas’ brothers Nick and Kevin on the side as groomsmen. The intimate moment was held at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, after the Billboard Music Awards on May 1.
“Game Of Thrones” Is The Culprit
Jonas made an appreciation post for award-winning HBO Series “Game Of Thrones” via Instagram on May 21. He sent his thanks to the “life changing” show — attributing it to be the reason that he and his wife are currently together. “I have you to thank for introducing me to the incredible @sophiet,” reads part of Jonas’ caption. “Long live the QUEEN OF THE MF NORTH.”
The two are currently happily married and having the time of their lives. It still begs to question, will they continue with a bigger, fancier wedding later in the summer? The two have yet to comment, leaving us to wait for further news.
