Stephen Collins has been located by LAPD following reports that the actor might have committed suicide. The 67-year-old actor has been under heavy scrutiny following leaked tapes where he confessed to molesting three underage girls. LAPD responded to reports of single gunshot heard at the home owned by the "7th Heaven" actor, but ABC7 has confirmed the actor is fine. TMZ released taped conversations where Collins said to his estranged wife, Faye Grant, he was a child molester. In the tape she asked, "When you exposed yourself ... did you have an erection?" He replied, "No, I mean, no. Partial, maybe I think."
Faye broke her silence earlier today telling E! News: "I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press. I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media." She also told TMZ that she is "sickened by Stephen’s actions. I have urged Stephen multiple times to seek treatment for pedophilia, but he has refused to seek proper help or hospitalization for the predilection toward children. His TV wife Catherine Hicks was approached by TMZ cameras and said: "I have really nothing to say, nothing to hide. I don’t know anything. Stephen is a good guy in my opinion." When asked if anyone on the set of the show had any suspicion she said, "No. Gosh no. Not to my knowledge."
The tapes have already had repercussions for the actor as he was cut from the movie "Ted 2." The sequel to the Seth MacFarlane comedy would have had the actor in an unspecified role that will now have to be recast. "7th Heaven" was also being rebroadcasted by UP TV, but after the scandal reruns of the show have been cancelled. “As a top family-friendly network, we are deeply concerned for the families that are potentially affected by these disturbing allegations surrounding actor Stephen Collins,” Charley Humbard, President and CEO of UP TV, said in a statement. “7th Heaven has been a beloved family show and a fan-favorite on our network. We have made the decision to remove the series from our schedule effective at 5 p.m. ET today. We will continue to monitor the situation and listen carefully to our viewers. Replacing 7th Heaven tonight will be Supernanny, a series dedicated to bringing families together.”
