Two 19-year-old women, both childhood friends and living in the same apartment complex in India’s Pune city, allegedly killed themselves within a span of one hour, Maharashtra police said on Wednesday, Sep. 14.

Officers were despatched to an apartment home in the Shewalwadi area of Hadapsar town, Tuesday evening, after receiving reports of an alleged suicide.

One of the teens, Sanika Bhagwat, who was pursuing an animation course at a local college, was found dead in the bedroom of her residence at around 6.30 pm, police inspector Arvind Gokule told local media.

Reports said the teen hanged herself to death.

The officers were investigating the scene when the teen girl’s childhood friend, Akanksha Gaikwad, who was pursuing a degree in Commerce at a local college, reached there and reportedly went into a state of shock after seeing Bhagwat’s lifeless body, police said.

The teen’s body was brought down from the noose and was being transported into an ambulance when the second teen victim, plunged to her death from the terrace of the four-story apartment building, according to reports.

"While the body was being sent for post-mortem in an ambulance, the deceased's childhood friend jumped to death from the terrace of the four-storey building around 7.30 pm," the officer said.

No suicide note was recovered from the crime scene and the circumstances that forced the teen girls to take this extreme step remains unclear, police said.

Authorities have only identified the victims as students pursuing commerce and animation courses.

Two cases of unnatural has been registered at the local police station and officers are speaking to the victims’ relatives and neighbors to gain a possible lead into the ongoing investigation.

In another shocking incident, a cop plunged to his death holding his three-year-old daughter, barely seconds after his wife jumped off the 12th floor of their apartment building in India's Ahmedabad.

The horrifying incident took place in Diva Heights in the Gota area of the city at about 1:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Sept. 7, a police officer confirmed.

The victims were identified as Kuldipsinh Yadav, a police constable posted at the Vastrapur Police Station's accounts department, his wife Riddhi, and their daughter Akansha.

According to an eyewitness, Riddhi was the first to jump off the building and about 10 seconds later Yadav followed with their daughter.

Police said Yadav had circulated a long message to his friends and colleagues, before taking the extreme step.

The police were examining the constable’s phone to confirm whether the suicide note was sent by him.
