Authorities said that a 38-year-old Texas man chased his girlfriend with a knife during an argument. He then set fire to their bedroom.

Miguel Quintana was arrested Thursday and booked into the Harris County Jail, reported Fox News. As of Sunday, he remained in jail on charges of arson, aggravated assault against a peace officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In response to a residential fire, constable deputies in Harris County Precinct 3 were called to a house in the 12900 block of City Green Trail around 6.30 p.m. Thursday. According to a tweet by Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the fire occurred on the second floor of the residence, and Sheldon Fire Department responded to the scene.

It was determined by investigators that Quintana chased his girlfriend with a knife during an argument. Later he set fire to their bedroom.

Citing officials, Fox 26 Houston reported that a young girl was rushed to the hospital for smoke inhalation. It is believed that the girl may have run inside the house after the fight. But she ran back out after the fire started.

In a similar but separate incident, it was reported last month that a 24-year-old woman was facing murder charges after setting a man on fire at a North Texas gas station. It killed him, reported Mysa.

The victim was a Texas man, Ricky Doyle, who died from his injuries weeks after his girlfriend doused him in gasoline and set him on fire. The attack happened during a “domestic violence incident” on July 18.

After receiving multiple calls about the fire, officers from the Arlington Police Department responded to the scene. Bystanders reportedly stopped the flames by using fire extinguishers. They tried to save the 25-year-old man, who had burns across most of his body parts.

Based on witness accounts and video evidence from the scene, Breana Johnson was identified as Doyle’s girlfriend and the attacker. The two had been arguing at the scene. Then Johnson pumped gasoline into the Jeep that Doyle was in. Police said that Johnson ignited the backseat. It prompted Doyle to run out of the vehicle but engulfed in flames.

According to witnesses, Doyle was bleeding and his skin seemed to be melting off his body. A witness told police that they heard Johnson tell Doyle, “I’m going to kill you,” before going inside the store.
