Tiffany Haddish didn't just go to Africa with her friends, she turned it into the trip you wish your besties group chat could pull off. In her new Peacock docuseries, Tiffany Haddish Goes Off, the Emmy-winning star takes us to South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania with her three besties from elementary school, Sparkle Clark, Shermona Long, and Selena Martin.

In an interview with The Latin Times and ENSTARZ, the friends shared memories, surprises, manifested the next season, as well as that date offered to Haddish by Diego Luna and .... Bad Bunny's smell. Yes, you read correctly!

"The desire of this trip had been brewing since we were little girls," Tiffany tells The Latin Times. "We'd always say, 'One day we're gonna go to Africa, y'all.' And it actually happened." The result was a chaotic, emotional, hilarious, and deeply personal adventure that took just two and a half months to plan and 20 years to manifest.

Ancestors, boundaries, and unexpected tears

What Haddish didn't expect? The emotional weight. "I expected the laughs," she says. "But I never expected the tears." The trip was much more than your classic sightseeing. They did some soul searching and found some unexpected visitors. "Some folks showed up," she says when asked about ancestral visits. "Still not the ones I wanted to visit with... but, you know what? All are welcome."

As the women opened up about the emotional toll and personal transformation of the trip, they each offered their own three words to define the experience:

  • Shermona: "Sisterhood, adventurous, and bloodline."
  • Sparkle: "Exhilarating, love, and enjoy."
  • Selena: "Expensive, nostalgic... and I'll tell you mine so people can go and see it once."
  • Tiffany: "Enlightening, reaffirming, and tearful, from emotion and laughter."

"Turns out I got boundaries" (and no, not pregnant)

"I thought I was gonna come back pregnant," Tiffany deadpans. "Did not go down the way I thought it was gonna go down. Turns out I got boundaries."

Which brings us to the Diego Luna moment.

Referencing her viral flirtation with the Andor star over the summer, Tiffany laughed when reminded he had offered to set her up with a "nice Mexican man." "Introduce me!" she shouts. "I done dated some Mexican men in the past, but... you know, it is what it is." Then, with full volume: "Diego, come on!"

Bad Bunny and Super Bowl dreams

The conversation veers from ancestors to Afro-Latin identity to whether Bad Bunny should headline the Super Bowl. Tiffany's response is classic Haddish.

"I smelled Bad Bunny before I saw him. He smells delectable. He smells so damn good. I'm like, ooh, I'm all over that." When did they meet? There are no photos, but this reporter can confirm that she is right, El Conejo smells really nice.

And yes, she plans to attend: "Do I have tickets? No. Do I know how I'm getting there? No. But somebody's going to invite me. I just know it."

What's next? Maybe a Groupon trip to Argentina... or Haiti

They've got ideas for season two, and they're not small.

"Panamá. Colombia," one of them says.

"Argentina," Tiffany jumps in. "I heard they got boobs. And money. I'm just saying!"

But it's not all jokes. There's intention. "We could go to the DR and then right across the mountain to Haiti," Tiffany says. "I didn't even know they were connected! I didn't do too good in geography... Colonialism. Wow."

They all burst into laughter, again.

And for those thinking a trip like this is out of reach? Think again. "You could go on a Groupon and find some deals," Tiffany insists. "It's more affordable. Because you know, right now, with the cost of living? We done missed the place on Groupon!"
