Remarks from White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller raised alarm on Thursday as critics likened his comments about education policy to indoctrination within fascist regimes.
Addressing the White House press room, Miller railed against "cancerous, communist, woke culture that was destroying this country," celebrating the end of DEI initiatives and critical race theory in schools under President Donald Trump's second term.

"Children will be taught to love America. Children will be taught to be patriots. Children will be taught civic values," Miller proclaimed, emphasizing that federal funding would not be used to "promote communist ideology."

Miller's comments are part of a broader ideological crusade by the Trump administration against "woke culture," targeting gender identity and race-based policies in government agencies and education by linking funding to various institution's adherence to nationalist values.
A loyal adviser to Trump from the time of his 2016 campaign, Miller has gained notoriety for his hardline anti-immigration stance, contempt for DEI initiatives, and impassioned polarizing rhetoric.
