Lara Trump is considering a Senate run, leaving other Republican contenders in limbo until the president's daughter-in-law makes her final decision.

North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis recently announced he will not seek reelection in 2026, prompting renewed speculation that Lara Trump, who previously voiced interest in the seat, may consider a run, according to reporting by Politico. Eric Trump's wife weighed entering the 2020 race but ultimately said she wasn't ready for public office due to having two young children at the time, then aged 1 and 3.

Now, with her children a few years older, the question is whether she's prepared to step away from her lucrative speaking engagements, podcasting roles, her work within the Trump Organization, and her Fox News show, "My View with Lara Trump," which has significantly raised popularity among conservatives.

"She'd have to give it all up," an anonymous source told Politico.

As Lara weighs the opportunity, other Republicans remain on standby.

"I think people are really smart enough to not go in there," said another source close to the White House. "Everybody's kind of just been like, 'it's Lara's if she wants it,' The ball is in Lara Trump's court. It's that simple."

GOP insiders acknowledged that the president's daughter-in-law effectively holds the "right of first refusal," and until she makes her decision , which may not come until the fall, the field is expected to stay "frozen."
