An antibody test kits are on the way to Britain in two weeks and it will be used to test millions of Britons as the U.K. prepares to slowly get back to work and school. The antibody manufactured by Roche will tell of the citizens have had coronavirus infection already or not.

According to The Daily Mail, it was claimed that the antibody tests will give 100% accurate results and it will be rolled out in Britain soon. Roche, a Swiss multinational healthcare company, stated that will be able to produce millions of test kits by June. They succeeded in devising a COVID-19 antibody test and these will be ready next month and will first be launched in the U.K.

It was said that this type of antibody testing is already being used in Finland, South Korea and Germany. The antibody called the Elecsys is seen as a method for countries to slowly move and eventually exit from the lockdown phase. This is because it can tell who are the ones who have some degree of immunity to COVID-19 since they already had it and recovered from it before.

Roche also stated that they can speed up its production to yield as many kits as fast as they can. It was mentioned that the antibody may not be perfect but it is the answer that will lead Britain out of the lockdown.

“Roche Diagnostics has been working around the clock to develop a high-quality antibody test,” The Daily Telegraph quoted Geoff Twist, Roche Diagnostics UK and Ireland’s managing director as saying. “We are now collaborating with public health bodies to validate the new antibody test and our aim is to commence a phased rollout across the UK from mid-May.”

He added, “More than ever it is critical that industry works collaboratively with the NHS to help alleviate pressures and provide solutions – and once again this has enabled us to move extremely quickly.”

Roche Holding AG was granted the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its new antibody test Elecsys. It will help determine who were exposed to the virus and if the patient naturally developed antibodies against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the antibody testing is Boris Johnson’s first step in his plans to lead Britain back to work and school. He will be announcing his plans soon and tell the public how he is intending to end the quarantine starting with the breakthrough test kits. He is expected to go live on TV next Sunday.
