"The Vampire Diaries" have finally put a face to the name of the powerful "Silas." Scott Parks has been cast to play the warlock who became the first vampire in the world.

However, his official episodic introduction has yet to be revealed, but we are hoping soon.

I cannot wait to see Scott Parks as "Silas." While fans seem to be excited about finally seeing the most powerful immortal in the series, Ian Somerhalder is not too pleased about the casting of Scott Parks. The actor who plays Damon Salvatore, wanted to cast Regis Philbin as "Silas."

When asked for his casting choice, Somerhalder said "I mean, it's 'The Vampire Diaries,' so he's probably young. But we could flip it a little bit ... So, I'm thinking ... Didn't Regis retire? He could come back. He's not crotchety, he's awesome. I'm gonna talk to Mark Pedowitz and Peter Roth about that."

I am not sold on the Regis-Silas connection, but who is Scott Parks? He seems to be relatively unknown, but his filmography includes works like "Homeland," "The Waters: Phase One," "The Last Gift," "Port City" and "Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever."

What do you guys think of the new casting? How excited are you to finally look upon the face of Silas?
