‘Walking Dead’ Season 4 Spoilers: New Promo Poster Hints That Rick And The Group May Abandon The Prison [PREVIEW]

New promo poster for "The Walking Dead" Season 4. AMC

"The Walking Dead" is set to return for Season 4 on Oct. 13 and by the looks of the new poster things are about to get chilly, and we don't mean the weather. The new photo once again shows Rick alone, but in comparison to the Season 3 poster, it looks like Rick is in transit. The prison watchtower can be seen in the distance, while Rick seemingly walks through a whole in the now mangled barbed wire fence. His iconic .357 Magnum Colt Python is drawn but not pointed, Rick seems cautious no longer sure of the safety of the prison. The desolate image is the total opposite to the Season 3 poster where Rick stood with his gun drawn but more in a defensive stance, the Sheriff was protecting his home.

Additionally interesting to note is that in the three other promo posters for "The Walking Dead," Rick has been pictured moving towards his next stronghold. For the Season 1 promo poster, Rick is riding the horse into Atlanta, then Season 2 he is seen running to Hershel's farm, and finally for Season 3 he is in front of the prison.

But now, the chilling promo poster and Rick's unsure posture has fans questioning whether or not the prison has been destroyed. And if the safety of the prison has been compromised, was it destroyed by walkers or worse yet, other humans. So where will the group move next if they do abandon the prison? Will they all stay together? A full trailer released at Comic-Con gave fans a sneak peek at the new threats facing the group and while always endangered by the possibility of becoming a zombie, it seems like the group also has a ton more drama on their plate.

The Governor, who did slink away at the end of Season 3 is back and he is not one to let go of a grudge. The group seems to also be facing the standard set of walker threats, but now they are moving in bigger herds and don't move on from the prison. Videos teases for the fourth season show Glenn, Rick, Daryl and others struggling to hold up a fence after a herd of walkers get hungry.

But it seems like the walkers aren't pushing through the prison alone. "You see this?" Sasha asks the others while pointing toward some eaten rodents that haven been dropped by walkers near the fence. "Was someone feeding these things?" If humans are organizing the walkers to assist in a war with the group in the prison, I don't know how Rick will be able to organize the group to fend off to threats at once.
