Wendy Williams reportedly confronted her husband, Kevin Hunter, regarding his infidelity before filing for a divorce. The talk show host also found out that Hunter is fathering the child of his mistress.

According to People, Williams filed for a divorce from her Hunter, who also happens to be her manager, after he admitted to being unfaithful to Williams. The former couple has been married for over two decades.

“The split is definitely due to Kevin’s ongoing infidelity and that his mistress recently welcomed their child,” a source said. “Wendy had hired a private investigator and confronted him … He confessed to everything three weeks ago,” the source added.

According to the source, the drama surrounding Williams’ marriage put a huge strain on her sobriety because she also did everything that she could to save their relationship. In fact, filing for a divorce was not an easy decision for the host.

“The decision to split was terribly hard for her, but she’s regaining her health,” the source said. She decided she needed to finally put herself first.”

Last week, Williams’ representative released a statement announcing the host’s divorce filing. The rep also requested everyone to respect Williams’ privacy and said that no additional comment would be given at the moment.

A representative for the “Wendy Williams Show” also released a statement following the divorce filing. “Wendy and her family have been a part of Debmar-Mercury for over 10 years. We respect their privacy regarding personal matters,” the statement read. “As always, we remain committed to bringing an entertaining and topical show to our viewers.”

This week, Williams appeared on her show after a six-week absence. While there, she openly discussed her recent struggles, including issues with addiction and alcoholism.

But Williams stressed that she has a commitment to her and her son to come out “better, stronger, and faster” amid all of the trials she is facing at the moment. Williams and Hunter share 18-year-old Kevin Hunter Jr.
