“The Voice” coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been quashing engagement rumors for quite a while now, but fans are still convinced that wedding bells are ringing soon. Shelton and Stefani have been together since 2015, and with their families now blended, it looks like there’s nothing to get in the way of their wedding plans.

Clues about their imminent wedding started to surface earlier this year, when Shelton guested on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and joked about Stefani proposing to him. During the show, DeGeneres handed Shelton a giant clock to remind him that “the clock is ticking,” the same way the talk show host handed a clock to Jennifer Lopez earlier this year and asked her to give it to Alex Rodriguez. A few weeks after Lopez’s appearance on the show, Rodriguez proposed.

The clock that DeGeneres gave Shelton featured a photo of him and Stefani kissing. After accepting the “gift,” Shelton jokingly asked the host if there’s a chance that Stefani was going to ask him to marry her. “Now that she knows that you’re waiting for her to ask, now that she sees this, she’ll ask you,” DeGeneres answered. Shelton then said he would call Stefani later that night.

When it comes to their families, there is not much to deal with. In fact, Shelton is already like a father to Stefani’s three sons, and this has reportedly been making Stefani’s ex-husband a bit jealous. When Shelton and Stefani attended the “Ugly Dolls” premiere back in May, Stefani’s sons, Apollo, Kingston and Zuma, posed on the red carpet with Shelton and Stefani, and it was pretty undeniable that they’re very much comfortable having Shelton around.

Another clue said to suggest that the engagement rumors might be true was a video that Shelton previously posted on Instagram, showing him playing with Stefani’s niece and referring to her as his own. “I’m playing my niece, Madeline, tonight,” he said in the video. For eagle-eyed fans, it was subtle proof that Shelton is now not just Stefani’s boyfriend but is already part of her family.

Back in June, however, Shelton promised their fans that they’d learn about the engagement from a credible source when it happens. “Obviously, that’s gotta lead somewhere, but I promise you, we won’t break the news in any of the grocery store trash magazines,” he said.

That said, it looks like while proposing to Stefani isn’t too far from his mind, the engagement will be confirmed by Shelton and Stefani themselves to credible news outlets when it’s finally happened. As of now, Shelton and Stefani haven’t confirmed yet if they are really engaged, so fans will have to take all engagement rumors with a grain of salt.
