If you've ever seen an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" then you know each episode has tons of drama! But not as much drama as what happens off screen. Ellen Pompeo has decided to dish on some of the major drama that took place off screen between the actors. "Hurt feelings, combined with instant success and huge paychecks started things spinning out of control," Ellen Pompeo, who plays the show's title character Meredith Grey, told the New York Post. "The crazier things got, as I watched all the tumult with Isaiah and then the Katie thing, I started to focus on the work."

Pompeo was indeed referring to her former co-stars Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington in the Interview promoting the ABC hit-medical drama's 200th episode. Heigl's and Washington's exits from the show made a big splash in the media. Pompeo elaborated on Heigl's 2010 departure from "Grey's" calling the situation tough. "You could understand why she wanted to go - when you're offered $12 million a movie and you're only 26," said Pompeo. "But Katie's problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise, and then tried to get off the show." Pompeo then added, "Then her movie career did not take off."

Pompeo also discussed Washington's role in "Grey's Anatomy" saying that Washington's character, Preston Burke, could have potentially been Meredith's main love interest. "You know they wanted Isaiah Washington to be my boyfriend. Shonda [Rhimes, the executive producer] really wanted to put a black man in the mix. I didn't think they were really going to put an interracial couple on the show and I didn't want him. It was too close to home," said Pompeo, who is married to music producer Chris Ivery.

Pompeo said she spoke out against Washington being the love interest saying, "I said I wanted that Dempsey kid," she continued. "I think that once Isaiah did not get the role, it backfired."

Washington's 2007 exit was plagued with allegations of bad behavior. Washington was caught allegedly using homophobic slurs both on the set of "Grey's" and backstage at the Golden Globes Awards.

Even with all the drama Pompeo made it clear that she just stayed focused on work saying, ""Maybe it is my Boston, blue-collar upbringing. I just tried to not pay attention to all the noise around me."
