Academy Award nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno will be joining the cast of Showtime’s drama series “The Affair,” as Cole’s new love interest, Luisa. The Colombian actress’s character has been described as a strong, independent Ecuadorian woman who comes to the U.S. illegally when she was just a little girl and is now trying to achieve her dreams. The show follows the story of Alison Lockhart, a waitress from Montauk who’s married and falls in love with Noah Solloway, a Brooklyn novelist and father of three. Ruth Wilson and Dominic West play the two main characters.

The show’s new season will continue to focus on the view points of the leads’ but will add another layer by showing the versions of their exes, Cole and Helen, played by Joshua Jackson and Maura Tierney, and adding Sandino’s character to the mix, of course. The actress is no stranger to series of the sort as her credits include “The Bridge,” starring Diane Kruger and Demián Bichir, “Maria Full of Grace” and the drama film “A Most Violent Year,” starring Oscar Isaac, amongst others.

Late last year, it was announced that Sandino would be joining the cast of the upcoming Colombian drug lord biopic “The Godmother,” which is based on the story of the infamous ‘Cocaine Queen’ Griselda Blanco, where the actress will share credits with Óscar Jaenada and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
