Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” premieres tonight on ABC Family and with the return of the Liars, comes the return of Rosewood’s resident villain “A.” The Season 5 premier episode “EscApe From New York” picks up where fans left off with the Liars, Ali, “A,” and even Ezra atop a roof in NYC, Aria’s ex-boyfriend will be in serious condition after taking a bullet to the gut, and while the Liars and especially Aria are concerned with Ezra’s failing health, “A” only has one thing of his/her mind -- Alison. Before this recent released sneak peek video, fans were treated to another video clip from the Season 5 premiere episode.

The clip shows the Liars a few moments after Ezra sustained his gunshot wound, the girls are still in NYC however they are now without “A” and Ezra, who has been loaded on to a stretcher and is en route to the nearest hospital. Aria turns to her friends and says, “The plan was to get Ali out of town tonight, but now that we know ‘A’’s after Ezra?” Aria, who is clearly emotional about Ezra’s state of health, seems like she wants to forego Alison’s escape plan, and instead stay with Ezra to protect him from “A.” Emily, who has stayed fiercely protective of Alison throughout her disappearance, disagrees, “I get that ‘A’ wants to shut Ezra up, OK, but Ali is still a target. Can we think of another way to do this?” Aria is less than convinced of the threat against Ali’s life, and instead only seems focused on Ezra replying, “If Ezra...when Ezra pulls through, he’s going to tell us who ‘A’ is and this thing is finally going to be over.”

After the bickering between friends, Hanna quickly thinks of a solution, and phones the police, saying “Um, hi, the guy who just got shot at Bank and Hudson is Ezra Fitz. Yeah, I think you should send a cop to the hospital because I saw what happened and I don’t think this was a random thing.” Hopefully, the police actually heed Hanna’s advice because “A” is most certainly going after Ezra, who “Pretty Little Liars” show runner Marlene King revealed, will be in “pretty bad shape” for the start of Season 5.

In the wake of the first video clip, the recently released sneak peek is even more mysterious. In the second video clip Ali can be seen running through the streets of New York alone. She looks scared and distressed, with the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan sidewalks only making it worse. Considering the above video and the Liars conversation, fans can assume that while the 4 girls decided on their best way to get both Ali and Ezra safely out of New York and out of “A’s” way, Ali took her safety into her own hands and spilt. The teen has been on the run from “A” for over a year now, so the Liars delaying and debate probably gave her just enough time to sneak away from them.

However, a new sneak peek video clip from “EscApe From New York” reveals that Ali’s disappearing act backfired, and “A” is hot on her trail. As Ali nervously scans the crowd, she finally sees “A” appear behind her. Surprisingly though “A” is still in a full face covering black mask and hoodie, while I love the mystery of “Pretty Little Liars” and the suspense of not yet knowing “A’s” identity, it seems very unlikely that a person in a complete black camouflage outfit could openly chase a young girl through the streets of New York City without anyone intervening.

Ali runs as fast as she can in the opposite direction of “A” and the eerily hooded figure chases after her in hot pursuit, while the sneak video clip of the scene ends, fans can assume that someone does come to Ali’s aide. The young teen makes her way back to Rosewood with the Liars, and she is even shown in promotional photos in the hospital protecting Ezra wit Aria. But it most certainly be fun to watch a suspenseful chase between Ali and “A.” Check out the new sneak peek clip below and prepare for the Season 5 premiere episode “EscApe From New York” tonight on ABC Family at 8 p.m.
