
12-year-old Isaiah Fowler denies the charge he murdered his 8-year-old sister Leila Fowler in their California home last month. The Fowler parents were out when the received a phone call telling them an intruder had broken into the home. The family believed that the children were being look after and rushed home to find that Leila Fowler had been killed.
The 12-year-old told the police that he found his sister stabbed to death in her bedroom after the intruder left. Further investigation by the police determined that the boy was lying and they charged him with second degree murder.
The 12-year-old denies he had anything to do with his sister's murder. According to The Inquisitr the boy's lawyer, Mark Reichel is planning a strong defense. Isaiah Fowler was in court on Wednesday and pled not guilty to second degree murder.
According to Reuters if Fowler is convicted he will not be released until sometime after his 23rd birthday.
Outside the courtroom Reichel spoke to reporters saying,
"Our view of the case hasn't changed. We got in believing our client was innocent, and as we stand here, that's what we believe."
When Isaiah Fowler entered the courtroom he was bound with shackles. Reuters said the 12-year-old who denies the charge of murder kept looking back at his family. The boy's mother, father and future step mother were all at the hearing on Wednesday.
The Judge set a hearing for July 31 to determine when the boy's murder trial will begin.
