A 19-year-old woman was reportedly heinously assaulted and gang raped by three young men after a birthday party in Modi Nagar town Ghaziabad, India on Sunday, Aug. 14.
The unnamed 19-year-old victim reportedly attended a birthday party on Sunday, Aug. 14, when things took a tragic turn. At the party, a man allegedly served her a drink laced with sedatives. As she began losing consciousness, the suspect reportedly took her to a room and called his friends to join him. The three accused men, identified only as Shekhar, Krishna, and Arjun then took turns raping the drugged young victim, the Times Of India reported.
The victim, who was reportedly in a semi-conscious state during the entire ordeal, attempted to fight them off but they easily overpowered her. The group alleged began thrashing the woman as she fought back and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident before anyone. After the ordeal, the trio abandoned the woman in the room and quickly fled the scene together.
After the incident, upon reaching home, the teen victim narrated the horrifying ordeal to her family. Following this, on Monday, Aug. 15, the victim along with her father went to the Modi Nagar Police Station and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the three accused men, NDTV reported.
As part of the investigation, the authorities subjected the woman to a medical examination, which confirmed that she was gang raped. Following this, an inquiry has been launched into the assault, and all the three accused were arrested.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a 17-year-old girl allegedly killed herself after she was heinously gang raped by three men at her home in Haryana, India on Friday, April 1, Latin Times reported.
On Friday, while the teen victim was alone at home preparing for her 12th-grade examinations, three suspects, whose names have not been disclosed to the public, allegedly stormed into her residence and proceeded to abduct her. After kidnapping her, the suspects then forcibly took her to an isolated area nearby and allegedly took turns sexually assaulting the underage victim.
The men subsequently let the minor go after the ordeal. The girl immediately rushed home, traumatized by the abuse. Just hours after being brutally gang-raped by the three suspects, the victim allegedly took her own life by hanging a noose from the ceiling of her house.
The victim was subsequently found dead by her family. The victim and the three suspects hailed from the same village, with the main accused reportedly being the teen girl's neighbor.
Following the incident, the accused have been charged under sections of kidnapping, gang rape, and abetment to suicide of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
