Volvo brand's premier motorsports tuner Polestar broke into the main spotlight when the company first introduced the dynamite 405-hp Volvo C30 Polestar concept in a brilliant shade of blue.
Then, Volvo commissioned an extraordinary one-off all-wheel-drive Polestar S60 sedan finished in the same familiar shade of blue and fitted with a large Garret turbo to its 3.0 liter straight six engine. Power climbed exponentially from 300-hp stock to an unreal 508-hp.
A concept and a one-off later, it's clear that there is demand in the market for a performance oriented Volvo. Today, the Swedish automaker has finally announced that a limited run of C30 Polestar vehicles will be commissioned for production.

Instead of unleashing the same 405-hp engine as Volvo introduced in its Volvo C30 Polestar concept, the production C30 Polestar will feature a more modest tune. Retaining the 2.5 liter turbocharged 5-cylinder from the standard C30, Polestar works its magic by applying a hearty 23-hp boost and another 37 lb.-ft. of torque for a total power rating of 250-hp and 273 lb.-ft., figures comparable to the likes of the Volkswagen Golf R.
Even with the significant power upgrade, Polestar managed to successful retain the standard C30 hatchback's respectable fuel economy numbers: 21mpg city/29mpg highway with the six-speed manual transmission, and 21mpg city/30 mpg highway with the five-speed automatic.
Bringing the C30's foundation to par with its newfound performance, Polestar increased spring stiffness by 30 percent, improved steering with a 10 percent quicker steering ratio, and provided 20 percent more low-speed damping.
Complementing the performance upgrades with equally bold aesthetics, the Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition will get an aggressive yet sensible set of 17-inch Styx alloy wheels with a subtle and sinister matte black finish. Next, Polestar finishes the exterior with the brilliant, signature Rebel Blue paint, LED daytime running lights, active dual Xenon headlights, and obligatory Polestar badging.
Inside, the Polestar C30 boasts power-adjustable seats in black or two-tone black and calcite finishes, a soft loadcover, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, and keyless Drive. With the platinum trim level option, the C30 Polestar will also feature a 10-speaker, 650 watt stereo, and a navigation system with SiriusXM.
Packing performance upgrades, heavily optioned the Volvo C30 Polestar looks like a homerun execution. However, Volvo will only offer 250 examples of the special performance hatchback. Sales will begin in November starting at a well priced $32,445.
