Just days after the grand unveiling of the 2014 Jaguar F-Type, Jaguar has launched the official F-Type online configurator, complete with pricing for all trim lines.
The standard 340-hp Jaguar F-Type roadster will begin at $69,000. Next, the more powerful 380-hp Jaguar F-Type S will start at $81,000. Finally, the awesome 495-hp F-Type V8 S will possess a base price of $92,000. Like the Mercedes-Benz SLK and SLK AMG in the premium two-seater sports car category, the F-Type offers both a V6 and a V8 powerplant option, allowing the new cat to span quite an expansive range in the market.
While the Jaguar F-Type features an attractive exterior design, we can't say the same about the Jaguar F-Type's pricing. At $69,000, the base F-Type costs $8,100 more than its closest competitor -- the benchmark Porsche Boxster S. In fact, the F-Type costs nearly $1,000 more than a 415-hp 5.5 liter V8 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG.
On the other hand, the Jaguar F-Type V8 S compares favorably against its fellow countryman, the $138,120 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster. Packed with an additional 75-hp, the Jaguar F-Type is lighter than the aging Aston Martin as well. At least on paper, the Jaguar stands to be the better all-around driver's car. Then again, given the Aston Martin's timeless design, who can put a price on true beauty?
With options including 13 different exterior colors, four unique canvas roof colors, wheel selections ranging from 18-inch to 20-inch, Deck Hoop finishes, a wide range of leather choices for sport seats and performance seats, the Jaguar F-Type is fully prepared and committed to spearheading the premium sports car market.
