A tourist met with an untimely death in Florida on Tuesday after a mystery man approached his family and opened fire.

Tamarius David, the suspect in question, was nabbed by responding officers on the scene. David confessed to the crime and admitted that he was under the influence of mushrooms, which fueled him to carry out the violent act.

The deceased has been identified as Dustin Wakefield, a 21-year-old resident of Colorado. The incident occurred at the popular restaurant La Cerveceria de Barrio, where Wakefield was dining at an outdoor Miami Beach cafe with his wife and 1-year-old son, New York Daily News reported.

While the sudden shooting had everyone in the café gripped by fear, he was immediately rushed to a hospital after being administered first-aid. Wakefield was however pronounced dead at the hospital, as per police reports, PEOPLE reported. Recent reports state that Wakefield and his family had flown to Florida this week for a vacation.

Footages of the gruesome killing on Tuesday began doing the rounds online, which sees David laughing hysterically the entire time. The morbid video shows the 22-year-old dancing on the café’s patio around Wakefield's lifeless body, with people screaming in the backdrop.

While further probe into the incident is underway, a Miami Beach park ranger alleged that he was around at the scene of the crime and enthused how Wakefield wasn’t the first target of the assailant. The witness revealed that the suspect was chasing another man and began firing his gun. Things however turned awry as he pointed the gun towards Wakefield as a result of a misguided shot.

Not much has been disclosed about the suspect yet. But, officers noted at the time of questioning that David revealed that he often picked targets randomly.

Marquita Bradford, another witness, told WPLG that Wakefield died a martyr, and was killed while protecting his family. While the shooter initially pointed the rifle at his son, Wakefield was quick to shield him. Bradford lauded Wakefield’s bravery and remarked that the baby is going to love his dad when he grows up.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the grieving family.
