A man has been accused of killing his parents by slitting their throats after they refused to give him pocket money amounting to US$26.21 (2000 Indian Rupees). The shocking incident happened at Khutahin Bhataulia under the Paroo Police Station area in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India on Saturday morning, March 26.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ajay Sahni, has been arrested and sent to jail after he allegedly killed both his parents, his father Shambhu Sahni, 70, and mother Sharda Devi, and injured his sister-in-law Jyoti for not handing him pocket money amounting to US$26.21 (2000 Indian Rupees).

According to police sources, Sahni was reportedly undergoing treatment for a mental illness at a Ranchi hospital and had only recently returned to Muzaffarpur.

According to Rajendra Sah, Station House Officer (SHO) of Paroo Police Station, on Saturday, March 24, Sahni had demanded pocket money from his parents. However, when they refused, Sahni reportedly got visibly enraged. In a fit of anger, he allegedly proceeded to pick up a small gas cylinder and attacked both his parents with it.

The accused reportedly bashed the victims' heads with the gas cylinder and later slashed their throats with a sharp-edged weapon. The police officers who rushed to the scene discovered bruises and multiple injuries on the victims' heads, the Times Of India reported.

Meanwhile, the accused's sister-in-law, Jyoti, who was in the kitchen at the time of the attack, heard the screams of the victims and rushed to the room. Even though Jyoti tried to push the accused away and help the parents, she was also beaten up and injured.

Jyoti somehow escaped the attack and alerted her neighbors about the murder. The villagers then informed the police, who responded to the scene, apprehended Sahni, and transported the bodies to a public hospital for an autopsy.
