A 41-year-old man from Adamawa State has been reportedly interested in beating his 36-year-old wife over an argument of money. The man was identified as Usman Hamawa, charged for beating his wife, Rabiyatu Usman last July 22 until she died.

According to state Police Public Relations (PPRO) officer Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect was a resident of Jada Ward in the Ganye Local Government Area and had a little argument with Rabiyatu.

It appears the fight stemmed over money with the husband demanding that his wife refund N1,000 owed to him.

“Angered by her action, the suspect applied force on his late wife by hitting her head on the wall, as a result of which she fell down unconscious and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead,” the PPRO said in a statement.

After the incident, authorities were able to arrest the 41-year-old man after receiving word of the incident from an unnamed relative of the deceased.

“The suspect was apprehended by the police following report received from a relative of the deceased and a good Samaritan,” Sulaiman Nguroje, Police spokesman said.

The suspect is allegedly a Civil Servant of the Ganye Local Government Council. He had five children with the deceased after 16 years of marriage.

An investigation is now ongoing with state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu reportedly deploying officers of Anti- Homicide Unit of the Police Command to handle it. The PPRO also added that the group has been commissioned to make sure that the suspect is prosecuted accordingly.

"The Commissioner of Police *CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, psc* while commending the locals and police for exposing and making it impossible for criminal of such nature to escape justice; however, directed for discreet investigations to be conducted and ensure that the Suspect is prosecuted accordingly," the statement added.
